Please join us for the 2018 National Work Zone Management Conference, planned for September 11-13, 2018, in Herndon, Virginia. This popular three-day event will offer over 25 workshops, with nationally-recognized presenters providing the latest best practices and innovations in the transportation construction field.

Keynote Speaker

Stephen C. Brich was appointed commissioner of the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) in January 2018. Brich possesses 26 years of extensive experience specializing in the areas of traffic engineering, safety, operations, transportation planning and research. Prior to his appointment, Brich served as a vice president with Kimley-Horn and Associates, focusing on transportation matters in Virginia. He was responsible for leading strategic planning and pursuits relating to surface transportation for Kimley-Horn’s three Virginia offices.

As VDOT Commissioner, Brich oversees a $5.4 billion annual budget and a team of 7,700 people who are responsible for designing, building, maintaining and operating the state’s nearly 58,000 miles of roadway, 21,000 structures and bridges, six tunnels and three ferry systems. He holds a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from Old Dominion University and a master’s degree in civil engineering from the University of Virginia. He is a licensed professional engineer in Virginia and Maryland.

This biennial conference is hosted by the ARTBA Foundation-managed National Work Zone Safety Information Clearinghouse. This three day conference will provide attendees with the latest insights and best practices in the transportation construction industry. Our presenters will share their experience and provide perspectives from “both sides of the barrel,” to help reduce motorist and worker fatalities and injuries in road construction sites.

Work Zone Innovations Conference

Join safety experts as they share insights and best practices on automated motorist warnings and portable positive protection.

Work Zone Data Initiative Symposium

At the Work Zone Data Initiative Symposium, you can:

Hear insights about work zone data management from a broad audience of transportation stakeholders in the public and private sector; including successes, challenges, implications and opportunities.
Discuss the scope of work zone activity data throughout the project delivery life-cycle; how it can be used, and ideas of what the data should look like as government and industry work towards a unified specification.
Sign up to participate in a work zone data sharing pilot exploring data standardization, potential uses and application development.
Join an active and robust community by networking with other work zone data stakeholders and national experts, and help guide the conversation going forward.
